Alcove
Typically rectangular in shape and installed adjacent to three-walls, this is the ideal layout for a bath/shower installation. Alcove tubs are designed with right hand or left hand installation in mind, meaning the drain of the tub is located on the right or left side as you face the tub. Many of these tubs also include an apron front which helps make installation hassle-free.
Freestanding
Freestanding baths can be installed away from the wall or even in the middle of a room as they require no adjacent support structure.
Drop-In/Undermount
Drop-in baths have a finished rim and are designed to drop into a deck or custom surrounding. They can be installed in corners, peninsulas and islands, or can be sunk into the floor. A drop-in bath is supported from below and has a self-rimming edge designed to sit over a frame topped with a water-resistant material. An undermount tub is similar to a drop-in tub except the rim of the tub is sealed under the deck of the surrounding platform.
Corner
As the name suggest corner baths are designed to fit into a corner of your bathroom. Most bathtubs for corner installations are five-sided, with a triangular basin, and are designed to accommodate two-person bathing.
